By developing a Corporate Road Safety culture that goes beyond what the law requires, you can greatly reduce your employees’ risk, reduce your liability, and ultimately, protect your company’s bottom line. The Justice Speakers Institute, LLC, (JSI) has developed a one-day course to provide that knowledge for your drivers, your investigators, your fleet safety officers and your corporate counsel. The course includes:
1. Understanding the fundamentals of commercial motor vehicle crashes presented by Professor Emeritus John Kwasnoski. This session includes factors of causation that should be investigated and documentation that can assist in preparing for anticipated litigation. Specific topics include information available at the active crash scene, the nature of distracted driving, the effects of fatigue on driver reaction time, commercial motor vehicle stopping distance compared to automobiles, the effect of excessive speed on the collision, the fundamentals of event data recorders (EDR), the retrieval of the on-board data from the EDR, and any follow up investigation that may reduce liability.
2. Developing and implementing a safety and risk program for your company. The costs are minimal when compared to the financial price that comes from a loss in court on a claim of negligent entrustment. Learn the steps you can take to avoid liability, including: developing your hiring criteria; searching moving violation reports; creating minimum standards for your drivers; taking certain steps after a driver is hired; and, creating a drivers’ training program.
Creating an atmosphere of a safe work environment, whether in the office or on the road, is a powerful message. It improves your company’s bottom line; it demonstrates a concern for all of your employees; and, ultimately it saves lives.
