Overview

Greetings!
The number of drug overdose deaths increased by nearly 30% from 2019 to 2020 and has quintupled since 1999. Nearly 75% of the 91,799 drug overdose deaths in 2020 involved an opioid.
Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat substance use disorders, and for some medications can help sustain recovery. Medications are also used to prevent or reduce opioid overdose.
The Justice Speakers Institute (JSI), in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, is delighted to present an opportunity for you to acquire additional knowledge on how to supervise individuals with an Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and/or other Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and recognize some of the potential medications that can assist you in that supervision.
We look forward to working with you!
