“Working Therapeutically”
January 10, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
“…[T]herapeutic jurisprudence (TJ) is an interdisciplinary field of philosophy and practice that examines the therapeutic and anti-therapeutic properties of laws and public policies, legal and dispute resolution systems, and legal institutions. TJ values psychologically healthy outcomes in legal disputes and transactions, without claiming exclusivity in terms of policy objectives.”
Judge Peggy Hora (Ret.) and JSI Founder will discuss how Judges can have a profound effect on the well-being of court users. A therapeutic court experience increases the likelihood of obeying court orders and increases trust and confidence in the judiciary. It also increases the wellness and job satisfaction of judicial officers.
As a result of this discussion, attendees will be able to:
- List some examples of TJ;
- Create TJ opportunities in their courtrooms; and,
- Increase their job satisfaction.
