Effective Sanctions and Incentives

JSI Associate Judge Geno Salamone (Ret.) will focus on best practices for sanctions and incentives, with an emphasis on the following objectives:

• Re-evaluate the frequency and duration of jail sanctions;
• Recognize best practices for incentives and sanctions so that each team member can communicate a knowledgeable opinion when needed;
• Identify effective incentives and sanctions, including one of the simplest incentives, verbal praise; and, 
• Develop steps on how to impose a sanction, and what is said during that time.
