Collaborative Case Management for Recovery Courts
December 9, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
$250JSI Vice-President Mack Jenkins will speak about Collaborative Case Management. Recovery Courts are multidisciplinary teams, where several members (treatment, supervision, VA for Veterans Courts) of the team frequently have case management responsibilities. With multiple team members playing case management roles the possibility exists that services to treatment court participants could be redundant, conflicting, overwhelming and or fail to effectively address factors impacting criminal conduct and or clinical symptoms. The session will offer a definition of collaborative case management, teach practice steps for developing and monitoring a case plan that addresses both criminogenic and clinical issues. Instruction will be offered for overcoming barriers for communication between treatment and supervision. The session is designed to provide skill development for team members with case management responsibilities, and to be educational for all other team members.
The session will cover the evidenced based practices associated with risk need responsivity theory. Those include, assessing risk and doing risk based supervision, targeting crimongenic needs, and addressing responsivity factors. The practice of collaborative case management may be considered a promising practice.
Participants completing the session will:
-
- Be able to identify five components of case management
- Be able to identify eight factors that predict criminal recidivism
- Be able to apply elements of Risk Need Responsivity theory collaboratively
- Be able develop a case plan that includes goals to address both clinical and criminogenic needs
- Be able to coordinate the application of case management components between community supervision and treatment.
