12th Annual Tennessee Recovery Court Conference

Speaking at the Tennessee Recover Court Conference, JSI Co-Founder Judge Brian MacKenzie will speak on two topics:

Gaming the Test:  This presentation will focus on how defendants who are continuing to use illegal drugs, attempt to avoid positive results on drug tests.  It will look at three different ways, dilution adulteration and substitution that are used to avoid positive tests.  It will address how defendants learn about tampering and what products, such as  the Whizzinator and urine luck, that they buy and use.  Finally the participant will learn the best practices to defeat these efforts.

Procedural Fairness: While programmatic success in drug treatment courts requires adherence to best practices based upon the ten key components, ongoing judicial interaction with drug court participants based upon the four principles of procedural fairness, voice, neutrality, respectful treatment, and trustworthy authorities are the most critical to their success.
