Procedural Fairness in Creating a Trauma Informed VTC Courtroom

JSI CFO Judge Brian MacKenzie (Ret.) will discuss procedural fairness when creating a trauma informed  Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) courtroom providing practical suggestions using the concept of procedural fairness with VTC courtroom personnel who are trauma informed. 

As a result of this program, attendees will be able to:

• Learn why judges and other justice professionals need to be cognizant of trauma as it relates to VTC court cases.
• Appreciate that trauma seems to be the overwhelming negative factor affecting many VTC court users.
• Understand the four principles of procedural fairness. 
• Implement trauma informed strategies using the principles of procedural fairness.
