Virginia Veteran Treatment Docket Curriculum
There are not a sufficient number of Veteran’s Treatment Dockets (VTD) to respond appropriately to the extensive number of veterans in need in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Commonwealth of Virginia has more Veteran’s within its borders than any other state in the union. JSI was retained to develop a state-specific curriculum for VTDs.
To ensure the curriculum that was developed was based on the actual needs, the curriculum development process systematically organized what is taught, who is taught, and how it is taught. Each component affects and interacts the other components. The curriculum development was based on the Instructional System Design model and included best practices for development of a needs-based curriculum.
The process to create the state-specific curriculum used information from VTC national experts and then we worked with Virginia experts to create a VTD curriculum designed specifically for Virginia courts. It went through a series of important steps to create a final product. Separate videos with experts role playing a team staffing were developed to be used in tandem with the training.
ln each step, JSI worked closely with the Drug Treatment Court Coordinators at the Department of Judicial Services, Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia.
